报告摘要:Because soil or sediment is a heterogeneous solid with a variable composition, the concentration of a contaminant in a unit mass of soil/sediment (Cs) is not a proper measure of the contamination intensity. This is attributed to the fact that the different solid components in a soil (or sediment) interact differently with a contaminant species and the relative fractions of solid components vary between soils/sediments. Soil/sediment is recognized to be a dual sorbent for organic compounds, with minerals acting as an adsorbent and the soil organic matter (SOM) as a partition medium. For sediments or water-saturated soils, the partition of a compound into SOM predominates over the simultaneous adsorption on minerals due to the adsorptive suppression by water. Therefore, the contamination intensity of a compound in water-saturated soil or sediment, relative to that in water, is the concentration in the SOM phase (Com). Use of the concentration in whole soil/sediment (Cs) in modeling the contaminant transport leads to misleading results, as evidenced by many supporting field observations.

 

邱成财教授简介:博士毕业于美国肯特州立大学,美国地质调查局Denver联邦中心首席化学家、水科学家,国际著名的环境科学家,现为台湾成功大学环境工程系讲座教授。主要研究领域为有机污染物在环境系统中的分配作用和表面吸附,有机污染物在土壤/沉积物上的吸附作用、有机污染物在溶剂-水间的分配系数、有机污染物的鱼类生物富集和植物吸收、有机蒸气在土壤的吸附作用等。1979年在Science上提出有机物在土壤和底泥有机质上的分配(partition)理论,开创了一个全新领域。已在国际著名刊物Science,Environ Sci Technol等刊物上发表100多篇高质量论文,被SCI论文引用10000多次。在ISI 2001年学术学术研究调查中,全世界共分成21个领域,每个领域选250-300名学者被认定为研究成果高引用学者,邱成财教授列入在“环境与生态”、“工程”两个领域的高引用学者,这是一项非常高的荣誉。同时,2002年 在Wiley-Interscience 上出版的《Partition and Adsorption of Organic Contaminants in Environmental Systems》是该领域的经典专著。
