报告题目:Synchrotron-based techniques: Providing spatial and chemical information of trace elements in plant and soil

摘要:Synchrotron radiation is a powerful approach capable of examining metal distribution and speciation in situ in geological and biological samples. Recent advances in synchrotron-based techniques now allow the in situ examination of metals and metalloids in hydrated and fresh plant tissues with no observable damage. In the presentation, Dr Wang will introduce these progresses with emphases on five important techniques (i.e. XAS, mapping, tomography, XANES-imaging, and STXM) employed in plant and soil sciences. Finally, some tips in sample preparation and data acquisition are suggested.

 

报告人简介:Dr Peng Wang, research fellow and an ARC DECRA recipient, currently works at The University of Queensland (UQ). Since the start of his career, he has been interested in soil-plant interactions, with a special focus on metal bioavailability, toxicology/nutrition of trace elements, and behaviour and fate of contaminants. He has substantial experience in the use of synchrotron-based techniques, and has published 45 SCI articles with a total citation of 537.
